Managers
Ethel Witzmann- Our Office Manager, has worked at Cromwell Veterinary Hospital & Kennels since1985. Beyond her management position, she also serves as our "grief counselor". She has 3 children and 4 grandchildren. She shares her home in Durham with 3 cats, 1 puppy(Miniature Schnauzer) and her husband too! Her hobbies include sewing, crafts, puzzles and plants.
Elaine Horowitz - Our Practice Manager, graduated from Newbury Jr. College in 1982 with an Associates Degree in Veterinary Science. She became a certified Veterinary Technician in 1985. She began working at Cromwell Veterinary Hospital and Kennels in 1986. In 1993 she took a year leave of absence to work as a Veterinary Technician in the Cayman Islands. While on the island she was able to work with veterinarians from all over the U.S. She has recently married and resides in meriden. Interests outside work are, scuba diving, travel, golf and computers. She is also an avid college basketball (UConn women's & men's teams) and pro football fan (married into Giants season tickets).
Patricia Nicholson - Our Personnel Manager, commonly known as "Trish" is married, with four daughters, three dogs, three cats, one rabbit and is looking forward to the addition of an Amazon Bappy this spring. Her outside activities include, EMT, a Red Cross instructor, Girl Scout Leader, and just recently was certified as an instructor for pet first aid and CPR. philosophy: "You gotta love a Lab."
Veterinary Technicians
Sandy Gonyea - Has been employed at Cromwell Vet Hospital & Kennels for 12 years. She received a B.A. in Psychology from Boston University. Her special interests within the practice include oncology, behavior, and surgical nursing. When Sandy isn't working, she enjoys photography, hiking, parrots and community service. She is on the board of directors of True Colors Inc. When relaxing, she enjoys an occasional margarita. Sandy has seven pets: 2 dogs (Aiki, Amy, who is commonly known as "the 3 legged wonder dog".) ; 3 cats (Rizzo, Jessie, Tashi - A.K.A. " The Tortie gang"); 2 birds (Cheyanne, the Amazon parrot and Koko, the African Grey).
Tamra Wallace - Graduated from Becker College with an Associates Degree in Animal Science. She lives with her husband, Craig, and five pets: 2 cats (Catastrophy& Hemi); 2 dogs (Dutch, & Mopar); and Fishstyx, the fish. When she isn't at work, she enjoys horseback riding and cruising in their 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner - "Beep Beep".
Brenda Sullivan - Who has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science, joined our technical staff after working for 6 years at a veterinary hospital on the east end of Long Island. She shares her home with her tabby cat Roo. On her own time she enjoys getting lost on her motorcycle, cooking, fishing and reading.
Rachael Chandler - Has been with Cromwell Veterinary Hospital for one year. She has 2 dogs and an adorable 2 1/2 year old child. She loves to draw and paint in her spare time and is very talented
Julia Consolini - Graduated from Columbus State Community College in Ohio with an Associates of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. She attended The Ohio State university for 3 years in Wildlife Management, and did her internships in Emergency medicine and at the Ohio State University Teaching Hospital. She lives in Middletown with her 4 pets: 1 dog (The Ross man), 3 cats (Chynna, Manga, & Austin). Her hobbies include sailing, and hiking with her dog!
Sarah Duval - Is one of our veterinarian assistants, she started with us as a kennel receptionist two years ago, but really wanted to get into the hands on animal care behind the scenes. She shares her time as a student at CT. Canine studying to be a professional dog trainer. Her dog, Trucker, whom she adopted from Protectors of Animals, trails beside her wherever she goes. She has seven cats who prefer to stay home. In her spare time, she enjoys concerts, sailing with her boyfriend, and movies.
Diane Trojanowski- Has been with us since July of 2001. She has worked at several veterinary hospitals in the state ( " this is by far the friendliest and most educational work environment"). Her love for this job shows by the distance that Diane travels every day. She resides in Barkhamstead with her 8 cats (1 kitten), all of them rescues, and a 2 1/2 ft Iguana which tolerate each other very well!
Ellie Shurack - Has been at Cromwell Veterinary Hospital since 1994. She graduated with an Associates Degree in Animal Health Technology and was a veterinary technician for many years before joining us as a receptionist. In her spare time, Ellie enjoys working out and is very active in her condo association. Ellie enjoys listening to country music, shopping in New York, and is partial to Cairn Terriers.
Janet Peck- Graduated from Ratcliffe Hicks School of Agriculture at the University of Connecticut in 1998. She received an Associates Degree in Animal Science. Janet shares her home with 5 cats: Chainsaw, Christmas Kitty, Lucky, Charm, and Smokey. In addition to her job here, she co-owns Riverview Farm with her mother, where they raise registered Alpine Dairy Goats. She is a member of the American Dairy Goat Association and shows her goats at local, district, and national shows across New England. She is also active in FFA (Future Farmers of America) and 4-H programs.
Jenny Bunick- (aka Kitten) Besides working with us, she is a full time student at Central CT. State university. Originally from Ellington, she now resides in Cromwell. She is majoring in English and her long term goal is teaching highschool level English and Drama. She has two pets Sydney, a sheltie mix (with an attitude problem) and Sophie, a cute little grey & white kitten. Next pet will be a Harlequin great dane named "Eli" - watch for him in October.
Nichole Mangiagli- Has been at with us since November of 2001, and has worked both as a receptionist and a technician. She loves her job and her favorite coworker is Ellie. When not at work she loves to spend time with her 2yr old son at the playground or at the beach. Nichole currently does not have any pets, but has owned dogs, cats, birds, iguanas, rabbits, fish, turtles & hamsters!
Elizabeth Hull - Beth was previously a medical assistant and has now been working with us for a year. Currently she has 3 dogs, her favorite is Zoe a springer spaniel, and loves working with animals. On her spare time she loves going to concerts, the beach and boating on the lake with her dad.
Cathy Brown - She joined our staff in April of 2002 as a receptionist and is cross training as a veterinary assistant. Prior joining our team she worked as a leasing administrator in the communication and office equipment field. Cathy has a 6 yr old german shepherd named Maggie. When not at work she enjoys anything outdoors, especially, hiking and white water rafting.

Groomers
Sue Carros - Has been with us many years, she was a kennel manager for a few years then decided to learn grooming. She has also held training classes in the past. She has cut down her hours with us, but keeps very busy. Sue is a dog warden for the town of Wethersfield and also is very active in Protectors of Animals. She shares a house in Colchester with many animals.
Christine Buckman - Our full-time groomer at Cromwell Kennels. She has several years experience in this field and is willing to groom just about anything from dogs, cats, rabbits, and even ferrets. Chris shares her home with her 7 dogs: Dakota,Okemo,Tuffy, Nikita, Zak, Diamond and Shadow.
